Between not putting up knit graffiti, and not getting tattooed in a year, I feel like a total loser. It's time to change. It's time to "Hit the needles"....Bohoknitterchichttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02116717726974690794noreply@blogger.com8tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2945249573840495225.post-68710552726563091632009-08-04T08:54:00.001-07:002010-01-14T18:01:59.884-08:00Yarn Bombing Book

About a year ago I gave permission for some of my photos to be used in an upcoming book Yarn Bombing about Knit Graffiti and they used some of them! It's so exciting! I got a copy in the mail a few days ago and have flipped through the pictures 3 times and have read up to page 100. It is fantastic!

This book is for anyone who loves the concept of Knit/Crochet Graffiti. It is part coffee table book, part historical and biographical, and part instruction manual.

There are basic instructions for people who haven't knit before, and patterns/instructions for those who have. Even if you don't have plans to decorate the great outdoors, there are some great garment patterns and you could always decorate your own home with the patterns intended for trees and poles (I'm contemplating some monster feet for my dining room table).

I highly recommend that anyone who loves fiber arts should check out this book!Bohoknitterchichttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02116717726974690794noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2945249573840495225.post-39689496318308868082009-07-21T08:49:00.000-07:002009-07-21T08:55:35.541-07:00Another Anti-Knitting Graffiti Blog PostI have to draw attention to the "other" knitters, the one's that don't approve of what we do. The Anti-Knitting-Graffiti Manifesto is the latest "annoyance" with knit graffiti. I chose a fantastic public round-about art sculpture by Jim Dolan. He sculpted 3 amazing sheep out of metal (very pokey by the way) so I decided to cover it in a big, pink, fluffy sweater (so it can stay warm in the cold weather).

Grand Junction, CO- you've been Covered in Knit!

The new festive tags:

Bohoknitterchichttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02116717726974690794noreply@blogger.com8tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2945249573840495225.post-81344832995225995582009-01-11T13:28:00.000-08:002009-01-12T13:31:34.054-08:00Yarnbombing gave us a Shout Out!Yarnbombing is a fantastic team of knit graffiti artists who are kick ass enough to be writing a book- Yarn Bombing: The Art of Knit Graffiti that is coming out in Fall 2009.

While my computer was broken over the holiday's they sneakily wrote a blog about me (Bohoknitterchic) and this blog. It was about 10pm on a Thursday in Monterey, CA. We drove around the town for about 30 minutes and here is what I noticed:

- cops drive down each block of downtown about once every 10 minutes (one drove by during my one attempt at graffiti placement, and we narrowly escaped)

- they manicure, landscape, and clean every ounce of the streets (some streets they even wash the sidewalks)

- there are no posters, ads, or signs anywhere- making a knit cozy very obvious and likely to be removed quickly

Needless to say, there was no knit graffiti placed last night.

Things I'm going to keep in mind for next time:

- my first piece shouldn't be so big and require that much seaming

- daytime is better- you look less suspicious

- smaller is better and would probably last longer because it won't bug as many people.

This sure is a learning process!
Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2945249573840495225.post-20423345484606425542008-08-26T09:19:00.001-07:002008-08-26T09:19:38.468-07:00Coming Soon!Look for lots of public art and urban beautification soon!
